Brain Injuries

If you or a loved one has suffered a concussion or brain injury due to someone’s negligence, you need an attorney experienced in the complex diagnostics and treatment that such injuries require. We can help.

Our Approach

People who suffer brain injuries often don’t even know it. They suffer confusing symptoms like fatigue and forgetfulness, and their loved ones may notice that something is off. When we hear about these symptoms, we provide contact information for various specialists to find and fix the problem. Our clients often undergo various diagnostic tests to better understand their injuries and determine what course of healthcare is best for them.

While we investigate your claim, your job is to get better. If you aren’t receiving helpful treatment, we’ll help connect you to healthcare providers who can put you on the path toward healing and recovery.

Things to Keep in Mind

Be Patient with Yourself
Many times, brain-injured persons become frustrated with their ongoing fatigue, forgetfulness, or irritability. These injuries can take a very long time to heal. It’s important that you remember that and give yourself time to do so.

Get Treatment
The best thing you can do for your health and for your claim is to get the treatment you need. If you think you’ve suffered a concussion, it’s important that you let your healthcare professionals and attorneys know immediately.

Be Wary of Signing Anything
Insurance companies will often get you to waive rights and release claims that you may have against the insurance companies or their insureds. Do not sign anything without careful consideration after speaking with an attorney. This is especially important if your cognition is affected by your injury.

An Overview

For many years, only the most devastating of brain injuries would be visible in medical imaging. When someone with a concussion went to the emergency room and described their symptoms, doctors might run diagnostics to look for a brain bleed, but that’s it. In most cases, those studies come back negative and the victim is sent home with pain killers and orders to rest and take it easy. For some, that’s enough for an eventual recovery.

But for others, it’s not. Symptoms might drag on for weeks, months, or even years. Until recently, MRIs weren’t detailed enough to see the microscopic changes that occur in the brain of a concussed person. Now, you can obtain images that show exactly how your brain is injured, why you need treatment, and why there can be no question that your injury is truly affecting you. We work to make it crystal clear to insurers and juries that your injury is real and that it has consequences on your daily life.
